Alexander Martin

Alexander Martin, MSc, ISA BCMA
Director of Ironwood Urban Forestry Consulting Inc., Alexander is an internationally recognized expert in arboriculture and urban forestry, having published over 100 peer-reviewed studies and articles and delivered more than 75 conference presentations since 2020. As a recognized contributor to his field, Alexander serves on the editorial board of the Elsevier journal Trees, Forests and People and has guest editor special issues of peer-reviewed journals focusing on a wide variety of human interactions with forest ecosystems.
His research and service to arboriculture and urban forestry has been recognized internationally. In 2021, he was awarded the International Society of Arboriculture's Millard F. Blair Award for Exceptional Contribution to Practical Arboriculture in recognition of his contributions to arboriculture and urban forest management.

Outside of professional practice, Alexander serves on the Board of Directors of the Manitoba Urban Forest Council and the Arboricultural Research and Educational Academy. He was previously Co-Chair of the Canadian Tree Research Education and Endowment Fund, a national non-profit supporting education and research in arboriculture and urban forestry in Canada. He has also volunteered on several industry committees, including the Pacific-Northwest Chapter of the ISA's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and the Governance and Culture Task Force, the Urban and Community Forestry Society's Industry Trends Committee, and numerous conference planning committees.
